Letting go (without the guilt)

After a long winter here in New Jersey, I bet you’re ready for a little extra sunshine. As the days get longer and the light changes, it feels like the perfect time to open the windows, air everything out, and create more space in our homes.

Spring has a way of gently inviting us to let go and open up. To clear out what feels heavy, make room for what feels fresh, and reset our homes to feel lighter and more aligned with how we want to live.

And yet, even with that desire for a fresh start, there are certain things that can feel surprisingly hard to let go of—especially items we’ve received from others.

I often see this with the women I work with. Thoughtful, generous people who hold onto things not because they love them, but because they were given to them.

A gift from a friend. Something passed down. Clothes that never quite felt like you, but feel difficult to part with.

There’s usually a quiet feeling of obligation underneath it: I should keep this.

But over time, those items can create a heaviness in your space—one that’s easy to ignore, but hard to fully relax around.

Your home is your sanctuary. It should reflect you—how you live, what you love, and what supports you in your daily life.

It’s okay to be sentimental and hold onto a few meaningful pieces that truly bring you joy. But when everything starts to fall into that category, it can become overwhelming without you even realizing it.

One of the most freeing shifts I see is when someone realizes they are allowed to let something go.

Letting go doesn’t mean you don’t value the relationship. In many cases, passing an item along to someone who will truly use it is a beautiful way to honor it.

And little by little, your home begins to feel lighter, more open, and more aligned with who you are today.

You deserve a joyful home that supports and reflects you.

And whenever you’re ready for support, I’m here to help.
