Creating a Home That Lights You Up

Simcha

Starting fresh in the New Year is such a good feeling, and a peaceful, organized home makes all the difference. The darkness in January is draining, but imagine having a home that welcomes and comforts you — a space that lights you up and softens the dreariness.

I’ve been feeling the need for a reset at home myself. December is always a busy time, and this year, I worked extra hours to help clients prepare their homes for the holidays. By the end of the day, I was exhausted, and my healthy habits were slipping.

When my husband brought home a package of Israeli crembos (one of my weaknesses, despite a passion for nutrition!), I found myself overindulging after a long day.

And when I’m especially tired, I find that I scroll on my phone far too much. You know the feeling, right? You suddenly look up after watching videos of gorgeous home transformations (and sweet puppies) and can’t believe half an hour has gone by!

Though I’m not one for making New Year's resolutions, I love resetting habits and making intentional choices. Between Instagram scrolling and too many crembos, I knew it was time for a little detox! 😆

Most people hear the word “detox” and think of eliminating certain foods and beverages — especially at this time of year. But for me, it’s about being more mindful of everything we put in our body, mind, and home. It’s all connected, and one certainly affects the other.

What does that mean for me? I decided I’ll only check Instagram once each day, respond to messages, and then leave the rest for tomorrow. And I’m reaching for healthier snacks, like nuts and fruit, instead of sweet holiday treats.

I’m already noticing a big difference in the feeling of my home because it’s all tied together. Everything in my life is impacted by eating well, spending my time on fulfilling things, and making intentional choices.

How about you? Do you need a little detox at this time of year? I’ve listed a few ideas below for inspiration, but try not to take too much on at once. Choose one and build from there!
