Love (and Organization) Is In the Air

Simcha

Most of us think of romantic love around Valentine’s Day, but let’s talk about the love that thrives in a peaceful, organized home.

I see it all the time in my work — clutter creates tension in a household. It’s not just about misplaced items; it’s about the frustration, stress, and negative energy it brings.

Recently, I had the pleasure of working with a lovely young married couple who lived in a small one-bedroom apartment. Space was tight, and laundry quickly became a dreadful problem between them because it was scattered everywhere, and they could never find anything. The underlying irritation between them wasn’t good for their relationship, but they didn’t know what to do or where to start.

Clutter and chaos affect all relationships:

  • Parents and Children – Constant battles over messy rooms, lost items, and household responsibilities. Kids often feel overwhelmed by their clutter but don’t know where to start — and parents often don’t know how to teach them.

  • Extended Family – If you’re embarrassed or overwhelmed to invite your relatives to family functions, it impacts relationships with your loved ones.

  • Romantic Relationships – When one person cares about organization more than the other, it leads to resentment and frustration.

A cluttered space causes short tempers, misunderstandings, and stress that seeps into every relationship in your home. But when your environment feels more peaceful and intentional, showing up with love and patience is easier.

So what did we do for the young newlyweds? We set up simple systems they could keep up with, like labeled spaces and clear sections, so it became much easier to put clothes away.

A few weeks later, I heard from Sarah. She said

Mark and I are doing 100000x better with the help of your systems! We’re keeping up with everything, and I even wear cuter outfits because I can find everything. You truly have a gift for helping people live their best lives. Thank you!”

Quick Tip: If You Care About It, Take the Lead

If clutter frustrates you more than the people around you, take charge! You can’t force others to care, but you CAN create simple systems that make it easier for everyone to maintain.

Example: A Laundry System That Works

  • Is there a hamper in the right place? (If dirty clothes are always on the floor, maybe not!)

  • Do you need separate baskets for different family members or laundry types?

  • How can you make putting clothes away easier? (Less folding? A better closet setup?)

Once systems are in place, it’s easier for the whole family to keep up. And when things are running smoothly, there’s less stress, less frustration, and more time for what really matters—each other.

If your home feels more chaotic than loving right now, I’d love to help! Let’s chat about how we can bring more peace, ease, and yes—love—into your Joyful Nest.
