Three Kitchen Swaps That Made Me Feel So Much Better

I used to think a "healthy kitchen" meant a complete overhaul. New everything, all at once, probably expensive. But it turns out that a few small swaps made a bigger difference than I ever expected—and they’re way more doable than you might think.

Here are three changes I made that I'm so grateful for.

Non-Toxic Kitchen Swap #1: Glass Containers Instead of Plastic

This one started because I was tired of stained, warped containers that never quite closed right. You know the ones. But once I switched to glass, I noticed I just felt better about storing food in them—and for good reason. Heating food in plastic or storing warm leftovers in it can release toxins into what you eat.

Glass eliminates that worry entirely. Plus, it's easier to clean, doesn't hold onto smells, and there's something nice about being able to see exactly what's inside.

Start by swapping out the containers you use the most and go from there.

Non-Toxic Kitchen Swap #2: Cast Iron Instead of Non-Stick

I know, cast iron can seem intimidating at first. It feels like a lot of work! But honestly, once you get the hang of it, it's actually pretty low maintenance. You just cook with it, give it a quick clean, and it keeps getting better over time.

Even better? You can now get pre-seasoned cast iron that's ready to go right out of the box—no upfront work required. But the most important part? You're clearing your body from those forever chemicals hiding in traditional nonstick pans.

There's something really satisfying about using a pan that will last basically forever, and I love that I'm not worrying about toxic coatings flaking off into my food.

Non-Toxic Kitchen Swap #3: Natural Cleaning Products

This one is one of my favorite things to share with my clients. I make my own organic cleaning spray at home, and it's become something I love gifting to every home I work in.

It's made with organic concentrate, purified water, and soothing lavender essential oil—and it works on everything. Degreasing, removing stains, and everyday cleaning. My clients always tell me how much they love it!

There's something really special about knowing exactly what's in your cleaning products, especially when you're using them on surfaces where you prep food. And the best part? It actually works better than most store-bought cleaners I've tried.

Your Turn!

You don't need to do all three at once. Pick one that sounds appealing and try it out this month. Small, intentional changes really do add up, and you might be surprised at how much better your kitchen—and you—feel.
