Your Entryway Can Set the Tone

When was the last time you walked through your own front door—as if you were a guest?

Most of us come in through the garage or side door, so we stop noticing what the entryway looks (and feels) like. But that front entrance sets the tone—not only for visitors, but for you, every single day.

According to feng shui, the entrance to your home is one of the most important spaces. It sets the tone for the energy of the entire house—for you and for anyone who walks through it.

So, how do you want it to feel?

Light? Welcoming? Or a little chaotic and heavy?

A cluttered, crowded entry can feel draining, while a clear, welcoming one can immediately lift your mood. And with the holidays right around the corner, this is the perfect time to give your entryway some love.

Here are a few quick things you can do right now:

  • Shoes: Keep only the pairs you’re wearing this season by the door, with a simple shoe rack. Move everything else to closets or bedroom storage.

  • Coats: Rotate out the off-season jackets that tend to pile up on hooks. Keep just what you’ll actually grab on chilly mornings.

  • Little extras: Add something that makes you smile when you walk in—like a plant, a mirror, or a fresh doormat.

Here’s a quick tip I love to do every so often that is

simple and effective!

Try this: walk in through your front door and imagine you’re a guest.

What do you notice first? What feels welcoming, and what feels distracting? Pick just one thing you can clear or refresh in that moment. Small changes make a big difference.

Your entryway doesn’t have to be perfect—just functional, clutter-free, and a reflection of the warmth you want to share this season.

Truly, now is the best time to get organized—before the busyness of the holidays arrives. And I’d love to help! Reach out if you’d like to get on our schedule before the festivities begin.

Let’s make your home feel calm and welcoming—just in time for the holidays.
